A True Democracy has NEVER had either Lobbyists nor Special Interests Groups, or Super Packs, or Campaign Contributors, or Managers, or Private Interests, or Protesters or Civil Disobedience, not even Politicians…

The facade of democracy is quite realistic in our society to the point that many believe that we actually have democracy. The first consideration must be made as to what does it mean to have a democracy? The word democracy comes from Demos (People) and Kratia (Ruling) which in original Greek language: δημοκρατία dēmokratía, literally “rule of the people“. At no point in the description of a democracy there are any external interests to be served such as the oligarchy, private sector, corporations, lobbyists, etc. Once again, a Direct or Horizontal Democracy never employs the use of Lobbyists or Special Interests Groups, or Super Packs, or Campaign Contributors, or Managers, or Private Interests, or Protesters or Civil Disobedience, not even Politicians. Whatever a democracy must be has to be 100% public as it is said to serve the people, the collective, the mass or the majority. This democracy must also be a direct process without intermediaries or conflicts of interests. This direct democracy must also be the product of a well-informed people. If the democracy is said to be a government by the people, of the people and for the people then the use of Lobbyists or Special Interests Groups, or Super Packs, or Campaign Contributors, or Managers, or Private Interests, or Protesters or Civil Disobedience, or even Politicians is completely unnecessary and obsolete as all decisions are made for the commonwealth or general welfare of the collective and never the serving of two masters in the form of the oligarchy and the workers, the people. The trick used to fool society is quite simple; a Representative Democracy is sold as if it were the efficient Direct Democracy. So, a Representative Democracy or Republic is one where elected officials are said to be chosen to embody the people that elected them. The issue here is that every representative must first be elected against other candidates also competing for the position. The elected official is placed to the position by running a campaign based on lies or dystopia of some sort.

Politicians are indeed demagogues who get elected by telling the masses what the masses wish to hear and once elected they do as they please, typically acting like true representatives of the oligarchy or one percent above and never the people they claim to represent.  On the contrary, the Direct Democracy requires the mass, the collective, the People, to become well informed so they themselves are going to make the much needed societal changes. Humanity has not seen this type of democracy since the days of Christopher Columbus when he came to the American continent to pillage and plunder while massacring the tribes that practiced a horizontal or Direct Democracy. This type of direct democracy requires smaller groups of people getting together and making decisions for the entire group instead of one sole representative imposing his will on the majority. Furthermore, a Direct Democracy employs the use of delegates instead of political figures. These delegates are simple messengers who can only carry the will of the people in their most efficient form. Direct democracy requires that all individuals or the vast majority get involved while a representative democracy just require a group large enough to create the appearance of democracy while electing someone who will most probably won’t represent the will of the people who elected them.

If the People called the Shots then WHY do you need Lobbyists or Special Interests Groups? The people are the ones deciding, then Why Massive Hidden Contributions to Super Packs or Campaign Contributors?

Our democratic process is not only the biggest farce there is but it is also the biggest farce there is out there for everyone to see. Our system has managed to normalize the farce to a point of seeing it as integral to our reality, a socially constructed delusion from hell which appears as “normal…” to anyone insane enough to believe it. This pathology starts with the idea of limited, extremely limited, choices in candidates from limited political parties. Most independent candidates lose elections by lack of exposure not because of lack of qualifications. The system excludes those who are not aligned with the corporate world of lobbyists and special interests. Then, the system follows its delusion by having the pre-chosen ones, these political candidates being professional demagogues from both traditional political parties who are trained in the art of mass deceit. When it comes to political figures, one out of a thousand is worth a little less than a penny and all the others just plainly have no human or integrity value what so ever. The main disconnect begins when polling peoples’ wants and needs versus what politicians actually do after being elected. This idea becomes even more irrational when a politician has been reelected in 20 consecutive elections even after failing all campaign promises and being a tool for the oligarchical establishment.

At this point we hope that you start to suspect that something is just not right with our political landscape, or at least begin to have the smallest of suspicions that politicians have never represented you or anyone in the population who is not an oligarch. If peoples’ interests were indeed safeguarded by the elected officials then there would be no reason for lobbyists pushing special interests to the elected crooks. For most people this appears as normal just like he person who fell inside a latrine and after awhile the person can no longer smell the true essence of the latrine. The vast majority of these interests groups are corporate oriented and corporate welfare recipients. Most and in many cases all interest groups pay or heavily contribute to political campaigns. You can be certain that if the People asked a politician, who is your daddy? The crook, if an honest one, would simply respond: “Not you.” The fact of people being able to elect crooks gives people the illusion of choice and this is quite misleading for most individuals in the population.

At the end of each electoral day the elected representatives will represent anyone but the people they claim to represent. The proof is in the results to a failed economy that has redistributed wealth to the oligarchs in the trillions during the past four decades and even beyond that. Despite our society’s wealth, a wealth created by the workers within the great U.S. land, people cannot account for a publicly controlled and paid Healthcare system, or social services worth the money spent in them. Each industry including healthcare, fossil fuels, military, etc. has enough lobbyists to overwhelm the electoral vote of any community by overruling the people. Politicians will represent the wealth that helped them be elected before they actually represent the people. In fact, workers do not even make salaries or wages which matched the cost of living at this point, most workers are one day away from a collapse in a world full of resources which are reserved for the oligarchic class and never for the people who helped create such resources, the workers.

The U.S. Supreme Court has also been hijacked since the failed 2000 election, a failed vote recount; so the appointed judges have followed endorsing irregularities such as voting suppression and political repression (Protesting being criminalized despite being protected under the first amendment and the Redress of Grievances clauses). The infamous Citizen united decision was one of these nondemocratic made decisions where one person one vote was superseded by anonymous endless campaign donations.

The Citizens United ruling, released in January 2010, eliminated the corporate and union ban on making independent expenditures and financing electioneering communications. Citizen united gave corporations and unions the green light to spend unlimited sums on ads and other political means, calling for the election or defeat of individual candidates. Remember, if politicians take the dough, now they represent the wealthy contributor donors and not their constituents who elect them.

The Citizen United decision said that it is legal for corporations and labor unions to spend as much as they want to convince people to vote for or against a candidate. The decision did not affect contributions. It is still illegal for companies and labor unions to give money directly to candidates for federal office; but, then and again, what are Super-pacs for? The court said that because these funds were not being spent in coordination with a campaign, they “do not give rise to corruption or the appearance of corruption.” This decision relinquishes individual right at the-ballot and replaces them with wealthy donors behind the scenes while keeping the facade of a fair democratic process which is not by far.

Serving Two Opposing Masters Simultaneously: The People vs. Private Interests

Each institution has its goals, its ends, which clearly demonstrate their reason to exist. For Free Market Fantasies entrepreneurs is the Profit making at the expense of an endless supply of exploited workers who do not even demand salaries or wages that meet the cost of living, the U.S. workers. Quite in full opposition of the Free Market fantasies entrepreneurs, just like a mortal nemesis, is the idea of a true direct democracy since the goal for a direct democracy is one which absolutely oppose competition as it relies on cooperation. Furthermore, a true democracy would seek to satisfy human, workers, needs never corporate greed or even corporate welfare. There is no form of democracy which would rationally and consciously seek to serve anyone other than the people, at least not in their stated purpose to exist. Our democracy does the previous violation quite well; it fully engages PRIVATE for profit ventures while simultaneously claiming that their interest is the well-being of the people the system represents, the exploited workers.

Once upon a time the people had a better understanding of their ideal government. The people have never reached this ideal government but during the civil society People had a taste of PUBLIC works and PUBLIC institutions which were not only ran but controlled by the people themselves. Public institutions are democratic by nature; PRIVATE corporations are despotic and tyrannical by nature due to the full absence of democracy. In a private entity the CEO and board of stock holders call the shots leaving the workers without an inkling of protection not even an adequate remuneration for producing all wealth produced for the corporate masters. These private institutions are like leeches yet they are viewed as an integral part of the democratic process despite their full blown antidemocratic nature and structure.
